The ChemPort Connection is available following search sessions on
STN Easy®,
STN Easy®
for IntranetsSM,
STN®
on the WebSM,
STN Express®
with Discover!TM,
SciFinder®,
SciFinder
ScholarTM,
CA on CDTM, and
CA SelectsTM
on the WebSM,
as well as from the ChemPort® Reference LinkingSM Service. Requests for full text
document links are fulfilled by the ChemPort Connection.
The full-text options for the document you requested are generated at the
time of your request. You may see a screen that asks you to wait
"One moment please" while links to the options are being
generated. For a complete list of options, see the Full-text options section below.
The full-text options available vary from document to document, depending
on the journal, patent country, publication year, and other factors.

 | Email Reference |
|
The "Email Reference" feature is available if you are logged in to ChemPort. It is a free
service that allows you to email the article title,
author(s), and journal title to a colleague.
- The "Subject" line of the email is the Document Title.
- Enter the email address of the recipient(s) in the "To" and/or "Cc" fields.
- Enter your comments or message in the "Comments" field.
Note: This feature may have been disabled by your Site Administrator.

 | Full-text Options |
|
The ChemPort Connection page provides several options for obtaining the
full text of the document of interest.
|
|
Your organization's document resources |
- Link to your organization's document services
If your Site Administrator has set up the In-house Link option,
a link to your organization's library is displayed. Click
the link to access document services within your organization.
If a blue check mark ( ) displays, the Site Administrator has confirmed
that this journal is available within your organization.
- In-house Document Request
If your Site Administrator has set up the In-house Document Request
option, a link to an email request form is displayed. Click the
link to access the form and submit your request.

Web-based document resources |
- HTML and PDF
Click the HTML link to access the electronic
full-text article in HTML format via the publisher's web site.
Click the PDF link to access the electronic
full-text article in PDF format via the publisher's web site.
Most publishers provide articles in PDF. Some publishers
provide both HTML and PDF.
If a blue check mark ( )
displays, the Site Administrator has confirmed that your
organization has purchased access to this electronic journal.
In most cases, the publisher verifies your subscriber
status by checking your Internet Protocol (IP) address.
In some cases, you may be asked for another form of
identification, such as a user name or password. Although
the ChemPort Connection is free of charge, users must make
their own arrangements with the publisher for access to
electronic electronic articles.
- MicroPatent®
Click the MicroPatent link to obtain the patent
from MicroPatent. This option is available to MicroPatent
"TOPS" subscribers.
The blue check mark ( )
indicates that you are a "TOPS" subscriber and that access
to the patent is guaranteed.
- European Patent Office
Click the esp@cenet link to access the full text of
the patent or its reference document at the EPO web site.
All patent documents covered
by the EPO in its worldwide database are provided free of charge.
- United States Patent and Trademark
Click the USPTO link to access the full text of the
patent at the USPTO web site.
All patent documents covered by the USPTO in its
full-text database are provided free of charge.
A free plug-in needed
for viewing the USPTO full-page TIFF images is provided at the USPTO site.
- CrossRef
Click the CROSSREF link to access electronic journal
articles via CrossRef.
- EBSCO
Click the EBSCO link to access electronic journal
articles through the subscription agent EBSCO.
A blue check mark ( ) displays when this option is available.
This indicates that you have been authenticated for access
to the full-text electronic article.
- J-Stage
Click the J-STAGE link to access electronic journal
articles through the subscription agent J-STAGE.
A blue check mark ( ) displays when this option is available.
This indicates that you have been authenticated for access
to the full-text electronic article.

Fee-based document services |
- Download Document
Click the Download Document link to learn the price of the document and how to purchase it online quickly and easily.
If your access to ChemPort is via SciFinder, the charge for the document will appear on you SciFinder invoice. If your access is via any STN service, the charge will appear on your STN invoice. If your access was via any other route, you will be prompted for an STN login ID and password when you click the Buy Now button.

- Order Document
Click the Order Document link to order a hard copy
of the article(s) of interest through CAS's Document
Detective Service (for U.S. customers), FIZ-Karlsruhe
Autodoc Service (for customers in Europe), or Japan
Science and Technology Document Delivery Service (for
customers in Japan). Delivery options include postal
mail, courier services, and fax. Billing options vary by
delivery service.
CAS is usually able to provide copies of journal articles
and patents issued during the last 25 years (some articles
and patents older than 25 years are also available). CAS
will exercise its best efforts to locate and provide any
document copy you order. If you provide your email
address, CAS will notify you within 24 hours for documents
it is not able to provide. To verify the availability of
a specific document, or check the status of your order,
please contact the CAS
Document Detective Service.

 | Login/Logoff |
|
If ChemPort can identify you as an STN, STN Easy, STN Easy for Intranets,
SciFinder, or SciFinder Scholar customer, customized ChemPort options are
provided automatically. If you are not identified automatically, you can
log in with an STN or STN Easy account (click the Login link on the
left-hand side of the page).
For added security, even if ChemPort has identified you automatically,
you may still be required to log in to use additional options for
obtaining full text.
You must log in to use the Email Reference feature.

 | Subscription Verification |
|
ChemPort uses your IP Address to verify your journal subscriber status
with some publishers. Click here
to see the IP Address that ChemPort recognizes for your computer.

 | Browser Support |
|
In general, browsers that support HTML 3.0 with tables and forms will
display pages from this site. Recent versions of Netscape Navigator and
Microsoft Internet Explorer have been successfully tested on this site.
This site uses browser cookies and is best viewed using 600 x 800 resolution.

 | Hours of Availability |
|
The ChemPort Connection is available from Sunday 01:00 to Saturday 22:00
Eastern Time. On the first Saturday of each month, it is only available
until 17:00.
|

|
 | Connection Time-out |
|
ChemPort Connection sessions time out after 20 minutes of inactivity.
Once a time-out occurs, the links are no longer active.
